Still Hanging

This photo shows the basket a week later. The petunias have covered all of the holes. The petunias in the top are growing, but have not grown enough to grow over the top. We will see how it looks next Wednesday.

Petunia Baskets

We started with the baskets about three weeks ago. I ordered the plants in January of this year. They were grown by the Pinea Nursery in Ogden. I picked them up March 4, in Payson. A couple of days later we made the baskets. We would put some potting soil in the pot up to the first roll of holes. Stick the plant through the hole with root ball inside the pot. We would then put soil up to the next hole and repeat the process. Finally we would stick plants in the top of the pot. I will take more pictures as they grow.

My Baskets

The baskets that we sell are like those that are hanging Vernal on Main Street. They have over 2500 baskets and tubs. Daily watering and weekly fertilizing will keep them looking nice all summer. When the day time temperature is above 90, they will need to be watered two times a day. Also, a larger floral display in the late summer requires more water than the same basket in the late spring.
